Flyleaf- Set Me on Fire
It’s about time to post about Flyleaf again. . I’ve followed Lacey and her group since the very beginning when I actually bought their debut album as a joke gift for my buddy Leif as ‘Flyleaf’ “contained” his name. Hearing Lacey’s vocals RIP on I’m So Sick was a chilling experience. She was even better in person and live with the group.
After Memento Mori and New Horizons (the earlier having more hits than the later) Lacey left and it’s been a little difficult for me to get back back into the group.. Kristin May, through no fault of her own, has taken some time to gain the fan’s trust. The first EP where we heard her recorded voice, Who We Are, was mostly a collection of live tracks and I feel missed the beat, allowing fans to continue to waiver..
Between the Stars is finally where she shines. It’s no longer Lacey’s group and songs for Lacey sung with Kristin’s voice, but Sameer and the band is writing music for Kristin which play only to her strengths. It’s an awesome effort. IMO, Flyleaf has now lost that edgier Lacey-fueled rock, but it’s now a different kind of rock show. It’s good. It’s really good.
