Noah Kahan

So, unlike apparently the rest of the world, I wasn’t really a fan of Noah Kahan’s Stick Season when it hit the radio waves a few years ago.. and the fact that it even really came into my conscious/orbit when I don’t really listen to the radio at all anymore shows how MASSIVE this song was. So, i’m not going to post it below for you to judge whether I was right or wrong, because I’m big enough to admit when I’ve made a mistake… but what I am going to post instead, is my favorite song from his latest album, The Great Divide, Willing and Able.

This song HAS EVERYTHING. It’s S. Carey, it’s Ray LaMontagne, it’s Mumford, Hozier, Jason Isbell, Zach Bryan, Lumineers.. Mt. Joy.. it’s .. just really good. It’s his own lane and my god he’s figured it out. I give my work colleague Alex all credit who during a late night IM session, she mentioned she’s really into this album to which i responded “no.. the stick season guy??” and she flat out told me i was sleeping on it and that i was an idiot if i didn’t listen to it.

And readers.. if you want to get into something, take note. this is the way to make me listen to something immediately. So I did. and she was right.

And even just the opener, End of August below.. is … such a great introduction to this album that I just so seriously recommend.. that this artist who I had fully written off, may be getting an Album of the Year nod.

I won’t keep writing, but don’t stop in Jail, just pass Go and listen.

okay.. one more thing (hello john mayer/steve jobs). Here’s Stick Season. it’s hard NOT to share. As a Noah fan, I understand this track now. It’s still not my favorite, but there’s a quality to it I recognize now.

and okay, fine his Tiny Desk..

Now i’m done done.
