After a number of just ‘fine’ album releases from Three Days Grace that occurred while Adam Gontier (their founder/lead singer/lead writer, etc.) had resigned from the band for some personal health reasons a number of years back), their new one, Alienation featuring his return is just awesome and a great return to form. I highly recommend going to check it out; my favorite moment/song from the album is below right around the 2:13 mark from the song Apologies – that perfect blend from rock to an open acoustic tuning and right back to rock… *chefs kiss*
I’ve really enjoyed everything Adam has put out – even commented a while back on his Saint Asonia side project which, while I’m sad to see potentially is ending, if its going to continue to result in this continued solid Three Days Grace music – i’m here for it.
Actually.. this reminds me that I need to go re-check out Sick Puppies’ new album, Wave the Bull – not that Shim has returned from his solo work and youtubing prowess – but I should give their new album a chance. I still really think Shim was the main writer/driving force from that band that made me fall so hard for their first album, Dressed Up as Life (the guitar/bass riff below from their track Cancer is just… so insanely fun/hard to play yet so simplistic), but doesn’t hurt to try and get back into them today and see if they’ve also had some return to form..
Sorry what we were talking about?? Oh yes… Adam.. Interestingly, as I was reading his wikipedia a bit this morning, I came across a feature he did with Peyton Parrish who I hadn’t heard before… and this dude has some pretty solid Skillet (who has also had a major falling off lately in my opinion), Saving Abel, Eve to Adam, and Black Stone Cherry vibes which was an enjoyable find this morning.
It’s been a good day.
