Without sounding overly fan-girly, last week I really, really, really jammed hard to Sabrina’s new album, Man’s Best Friend – was just silly impressed, especially after dropping an equally good album just over a year ago now – breakups can really do something for you, I guess haha.
If I had to break it down… consider it a silly playful, saucy pop romp with tongue-in-cheek sexual innuendos everywhere you turn (and then some). Look, I’ve talked about how I primarily really don’t care to listen to lyrics, or rather, much MORE care about the melodies of those words than the actual content themselves .. but man, this album had me hanging on every single word to see what she’s say next. It’s just .. clever. and funny. and silly. Made me happy to listen to it, and I’ll bet it do the same for you.
House Tour is my favorite from the album…
And for those of you (i’m looking at you tiktok) who are claiming the album is ‘rushed’ and ‘production quality’ isn’t up to snuff… you’re joking right? Jack has another hit on his hands again from the slick blend of Ariana-esque hooks, Taylor-Chappell vibes, retro-disco gloss and just packaged perfectly.
Tears is just one of those crazy sexual innuedo tracks.. but is also an insanely solid one – what other creative ways can pop artists drop some overtly sexual stuff without saying so so it can make it the way to the radio?
Whatever writing crew she’s got must be magicians – i’m hoping they’ll just continue to produce.
Also, it took me a few days to realize it, but it really did remind of Martin Johnson’s (from Boys Like Girls) The Night Game sideproject.. That 80s retro pop vibe is just continuing to hit.
