Man – first of all, Alien Ant Farm making a comeback in 2024.. that simply would not have been on my musical bingo card for this year. I’m not sure it would have been on anyone’s, … outside of the fans at alienantfans.com (which, just straight up bravo/kudos on the domain name AND a thank you for hosting all their old unreleased stuff which i definitely grabbed this week) who apparently have been predicting this)…, but i am totally here for it. And secondly, its not just a come back, but.. a pretty decent one? That first track (above) is absolute fire – and easily jumped right up in my list of their top songs. And while I don’t think the rest of the album actually reaches that high again (at least, to my ears), it’s still a decent offering. There’s something just… different about their tone and their chords that are unlike anything else that’s out right now, and I realized that that no one has been able to replicate it and it’s been somewhat of a void. I mean, upon reflection, this band was fairly important to me.. Anthology solidly has a slot in my All Time Great Albums list, and it’s such a nostalgia kick to get reflect back to the THPS days and how much of that album made those video games fun/enjoyable.

Plus, gotta respect a band who names themselves something stupid and just continues to lean into it through their album titles (except for Greatest Hits, which sidenote – is an excellent debut album name) and song titles. Just fitting having a track called Last Dantz on the last album. Plus, not a band song either.
