I have to stick with him.. Still probably my favorite rapper to date, Donald Glover’s wu-tang clan persona Childish Gambino has released his new music video, Heartbeat.

Did you like it!? A very very cool video. Actually speaks to the weird balance of the dysfunctional relationship that is in the song and the tension between he and his ex – presumably both are still struggling to get on their own separate lives..a piece of the relationship still remains. It’s nice to hear Childish Gambino making it quite big with this song.. I can even hear Heartbeat on Kiss FM every once in a while (when I do get the chance to turn on the radio that is)! Pretty exciting.
So, not only have I enjoyed getting to know his new stuff, Camp, released back in November of ‘11, but I have recently gotten seriously into his old old stuff.. My favorite is below:
Love the poor quality of the beat, the horns that seem barely non-existent, the really nasally tone that Donald adopts for it.. It’s just a fun song overall – I don’t know why I’ve got a such a crush on this number.. But I really do.
For those who are unaware of the premise, the song is based around Donald’s homemade move with Derrick Comedy – The Mystery Team. If you have netflix, it IS available for streaming. Don’t expect anything phenomenal, but I really do enjoy the film haha.
