Miser / Meridian

I promise – this isn’t another example of an ‘okay’ rock band covering a classic song.. However, it did come to my attention that way.

Miser is a band out of Dallas, TX that first captured my heart doing a pretty awesome of The Cranberries’ Zombie (the protest song about the IRA bombings in Northern Ireland and England..). A lyric video is below so you can hear it:

In general, their debut CD COLORS (click the link to download it!) is pretty great. They have their own distinct sound to rock and it all fits together pretty well.  However, after that debut which featured a number of great songs in my opinion (Monkey, Stars, Saved, Zen), there was nothing new forthcoming..

Finally realized where they all went –> a group called MERIDIAN, where the entire core of the band stayed intact and found a new lead singer. Unfortunately, you can’t find their music ANYWHERE outside of their website. According to their Twitter (@meridianrocks) they’ve been mastering and putting finishing touches on a debut EP since October.. But where is it!? I was a huge fan of what I heard so I’m excited to keep this group on my radar over the coming months – I highly recommend you do the same.

Check out their stuff on the website here: http://www.meridianrocks.com. I’ll keep you updated on what they post in the coming months. I think this group will be a great continuation of what Miser brought to the table.. I’m just hoping it stays that way.
