New year, new blog theme! Hope you all are enjoying your 2012s so far!
One of my more recent discoveries is Collin McLoughlin.. I found him through soundcloud and his mash up of Maroon 5’s Stereo Hearts I’ve posted below.. It’s a real fantastic little cover which also combines the Black Eye Peas and Bruno Mars! He’s a got a great vocals and a nice smooth guitar sound. I took an immediate liking as the guy seems to be doing everything himself, straight out of the apartment.
Although he’s been doing a bunch of covers that you can find spread across the youtubes, I just bought his new CD off of iTunes, Stark Perspective.. Really cool EP. His voice and guitar is still there, but there’s the added electrical/industrial element that really adds something to the listener… call it electro-pop if you will.
Digging a little deeper into Collin, he actually started back in the day as the acoustic singer/songwriter we hear on the album.. But getting into his junior year in college he met up with some new friends and the formed Nautical Young, a hip-hop group and ended up doing some huge shows in New York opening for Lupe and Wale and a few others! Huge! He appears to be back into the acoustic groove though and I HIGHLY recommend checking out his EP.
