I’m sure I’m not going to the first one to admit it.. Since the departure of the Farro brothers (and so much of Paramore’s sound in my opinion), I’ve been a little timid of what Paramore is going to bring to the table in the coming months.
Don’t get me wrong – I love love love love paramore and they’ve been one of my favorites ever since I saw the group sitting in a train station in Franklin, TN, Haley wearing Samba classics and their website only really consisted of a few videos from their high school talent show days performing Hallelujah and Here We Go Again. So pardon me if I feel like I’ve lost huge songwriters with both Zac and Josh gone.
Was I nervous to hear Monster when it came out for the Transformers 3 soundtrack? Yes. Did I have reason to be? Yes – especially there were two awfully simplistic guitar riffs the whole song, and the drums just seemed so lacking.. It was honestly this mp3 release that made me realize how much drums mean to a song. Not that I didn’t know it before, but the drums truly carry a song, push it through slower section, keep the ears entertained, are always the loudest part in any mix. So, when something that is so not Zac came through the Monster release, it scared me to what Paramore might release with their singles club in the coming months.
Above you can see the music/lyrics for Monster (can’t post the true video cause of copyright infringment). Below are the two current singles released through the singles club..only prolonging a true release for the group which should hopefully happen summer of ‘12.
Paramore – Renegade
Paramore – Hello Cold World
By far, renegade is my favorite. Happy to see the drums back up and properly supporting the songs and the guitar has definitely remained in true paramore-ish fashion (major props to Taylor for the work). The best part of the song though? Haley’s melody through the chorus, “Oh, when I get there, it won’t be far enough.. I’m in a renegade, it’s in my blood.” Simply delicious. Love that she is the true front woman of this group.. And if the new album stays up the Renegade’s standards, the change is certainly going to be okay with me 🙂
As a quick preview, Paramore played their new single at Fueled By Ramen’s 15year anniversary concert and quite cleverly mixed it with Stevie Nick’s Landslide.. Not a bad way to end a post if you ask me
