Berlinist

I occasionally have reminded you dear listener that I am a big ‘listen to soundtrack guy’ while I work and I’m typically in a pretty big rut of the albums/artists I’ll listen to again and again (Hans Zimmer, Thomas Neuman, Ludwig G, John Williams/Powell, etc.), . Not saying it’s a bad rut, it’s just more what I know what I like, and what my brain needs while working and I find it scary to venture outside the warm happy place that I know exists/works for me.

BUT EVERY ONCE in a while I’ll see /r/soundtracks or a friend or colleague recommend something that sounds just too perfect that I can’t pass up checking it out and this time it was BERLINIST which hit every mark.

While they were a Barcelona-based chamber pop/ambient in the early ’10s making some … dreamy atmospheric music (Hold Me Tight above) they shifted their focus to composing video game soundtracks over the past several years, and their most acclaimed work, Gris, is what came across my desks and now is the way to yours.

Make sure to go check out Neva too .. and all their other stuff. It’s all delightful work product that I’m thrilled to add to the collection and all my follows.
