Galleons is one of those bands where the Dance Gavin Dance comparison is both completely fair and kind of unavoidable. They’re Australian post-hardcore doing the whole swancore thing – clean/unclean vocal trade-offs, funky bass lines, technical guitar noodling, that slightly chaotic but melodic energy. And yeah… they’re definitely the Diet DGD version.
But you’ve got to admit, sometimes you WANT Diet DGD. Sometimes you’ve spun Mothership for the hundredth time and just need something in that same vein without the baggage of knowing every twist and turn. And in my opinion, they’re not trying to reinvent anything, just do the thing well. And that they do.
