One of my favorite things in the world is to follow bands as they grow older and older..releasing new CDs, staying true to their roots, creating new riffs/lyrics and expressing themselves through their music, building a bigger and bigger fan base.. Some bands succeed in this and I will follow them for years and years and years (ie.. Emery or Relient K.. Yellowcard.. The Used..this list could go on) and other bands strike out after a fantastic debut or sophomore album and they stay in my musical memory having that great collection of songs.
Not Advised was one of those bands I discovered on my serious UK band kick along with Pegasus Bridge, Young Guns, Twin Atlantic, Futures (Tonight is Goodbye), along with several others. They were one of the more rockier groups on this list as you can hear with their video at the top of this page. Still a solid album and I was happy to have found the group. However.. I always did question where they could take these riffs and their sound. Again, the question of maturing as a group and continuing to build on their original success but staying to their roots. Well, Not Advised has morphed into Natives (videos at the second top and bottom of the post) and I can’t say I’m more happy to hear new, very cool music with a new direction coming from these guys.
