Got in a seriously Peter Gabriel kick this week (I really should have written a longer blog post about I/O which was his first release in many many years back in 2023, but I feel like that moment has passed now) and as i was listening to that and not only some of his excellent back catalogue.. The post today is about all the coolness that is Sledgehammer – such a great song and what a ridiculously cool music video (that actually even played on MTV for a time!) for back in the day. So, thanks for coming on a Peter Gabriel journey today.

And while that might not be entirely shocking given it’s popularity, I really have Ben Abraham’s
cover to thank for making it so. Just a divine cover and really put the whole song in a different light for me.
And i guess that now that I’ve continued … below is probably my favorite I/O track. I really do need to do a track-by-track comparison listen between the Bright Side/Dark Side mixes and pick favorites, but that time commitment is almost too much. That said, any Peter Gabriel music is typically good music so.. probably still worth it.
