Got super obsessed with Doechii this week. Some of the following are just e x c e l l e n t tracks and I love hearing so many tributes to hip hop/rap culture throughout her work and expanding on it in her own way; tons of just awesome nuggets. I feel like i’m way behind on discovering her… apparently she blew up on tik tok a while ago and this girl to keep producing music

If you know from her from anything… it’s her hit single, What It Is (Block Boy), which frankly, is totally NOT representative of what this girl can bring to this table. She’s so much more…and (better) than this track, which I basically had rendered as ‘meh’ whenever it came on the radio. Kinda interesting what breaks through to the mainstream sometimes.
Re-pasting Nissan cause it’s my favorite. Can’t get this out of my head. And i don’t want it to go.

Someone shared this with me over the weekend and I just had to update the post to include the new bit – early Doechii wrapping over Gotye’s ‘Somebody that I Used to Know’ in her NY apartment is just.. cool. Shows how far you can really go if you set your mind to something. PLUS, now you know she can really SING which i hope makes more of appearance as she releases new music.
