Emancipator

Every gotten to that point in listening to bands when you’re tired of the classic band structure? Guitar? Bass? Drums? Vocal?  The classic hook, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus, chorus, outro routine?

..me too..

Emancipator breaks that mold. I’ll admit that when I’m occasionally working, it’s hard to focus on the task at hand when a favorite band or song is blasting into my ears and I feel compelled to sing along or drum my fingertips on my desk. I’ve been known to thrown on some classical music, Thomas Newman Pandora station, etc etc.. Finally a buddy told me about Emancipator. Check out a song below:

Emancipator – Soon It Will be Cold Enough to Build Fires

Pretty unique, isn’t it? How about another?

Emancipator – Lionheart

The genre is called trip hop and it originated (along with the artist) out in Portland. I love the beats, the eccentric rhythms, the occasional sample from a fellow artist, a random famous melody, a speech bit or two..anything can flow into his songs which is why I feel I get such a pleasure to listen to the songs. He has released a few albums and check out his page here:

Going forward in my blog, I’m planning on providing grooveshark links to bands. It’s a fantastic site because they give you just about everything a band/musician has released and you can listen to whole collections for absolutely nothing. Click GROOVESHARK when it’s in all caps and you will be transported!
