Mark Rose (Spitalfield)

Hope everyone is doing well at the beginning of their week! I’ve been in a bit of more quiet mood this week so following Sufjan, I wanted to share another solid artist who I can always go back to and enjoy. Mark Rose was the lead singer of local Chicago group, Spitalfield back in the 2000s. His group had gained some pretty solid notoriety playing with Fall Out Boy, The Hush Sound, and played in over 9 countries throughout their 9 year career.

Despite some issues with their label which caused them to disband around 2007 – Mark has continued on making some awesome music. One of my favorites is below.

Although not the pop-punk rock that Mark was known for writing in Spitalfield, his progressive rock/blues sound has definitely grown over the last few years and really come to a point on his official first length album Wonderful Trouble. I highly recommend following Mark in the months/years to come – he tours pretty frequently and he puts on a great show (I know personally, I’ve booked him first-hand for a show or two!).

And who can deny this video below? Mark is hilarious and this is song my favorite of his to cover – Go On.
