You know.. I’ve posted a lot about American bands lately and one of my most viewed posts has actually been about a few of my favorite bands from Australia.. So, taking a page from my own book, today I want to venture into a few fairly unknown South African bands that I’ve come across recently!
Prime Circle
Is my current favorite. Originally formed in Mpumalanga (now based out of Johannesburg), this rock/piano group has actually been signed to major record EMI and released 4 CDs since 2000! Their first CD in 2002, Hello Crazy World, quickly gained huge success and it STILL the highest selling rock album in South Africa. Kinda cool huh?
My favorite song of theirs is below and it’s off their latest CD, Jekyl & Hyde. A solid CD for any of those who want to find them on iTunes.

CrashCarBurn
An honestly solid power pop/rock effort out of South Africa is CrashCarBurn. Again, pretty difficult to find their music, but if you can get a hand on it, I highly recommend the video below:
This song above came from their first CD which they actually recorded in London back in ‘07 before returning to Africa. Since that time, they’ve performed on stage with Muse, OK GO, 30 Seconds to Mars, and even Korn and gained a decent little following playing on the MTV Africa music awards.. Who knew there was such a thing!?
