Willow Fan

So, I think I’ve realized I’m a closeted Willow fan this past week? Her new album, empathogen dropped in the last week or two, and i was like, honestly kinda shocked and impressed with it. It’s math rocky, with elements of jazz, and soul, and… R&B, and pop and just.. so many different things – it really caught me off guard. And it’s also good! .. c’mon, the first track of the album starts off with Jon Baptiste? Consider me impressed. And as I sat down and thought about it for a minute, i realized she’s really been one of those artists who has tried a bunch of different things over her more recent discography, and honestly, not really missed the mark with much – it’s hard to find an artist who’s just so willing to not be afraid to try something new. AND then to find musical success (at least, in my humble opinion) with it. I remember being REALLY impressed with her first album, the 1st – which was such a departure from her Whip My Hair single that I knew the girl had skills, and it’s just been interesting to see her continue to not be afraid to push her own envelope over time. So why not showcase that through her e x c e l l e n t tiny desk. below..

AND THEN to put icing on the cake, Bino decides to bring her along for his new world wide tour?? I clearly can’t be the alone in my thinking.

Anyway, Empathogen is just a great album. So, go get it now.
