Suite 709

I’ll be the first to admit I’m not generally into the whole R&B scene. Not that I don’t enjoy it, I just generally don’t listen to it expecting to hear old-school groups, slow rhythms, metaphorically-driven lyrics, easy chord progressions… stuff I just don’t listen to on a daily basis nor find myself musically craving.

That was harsh. And the above being said and stated, I was blown away by the band you’re about to hear.

Let me introduce you to Suite 709, a pop group turned soul and R&B who has literally reinvigorated my interest in current R&B music. I didn’t know new groups we’re doing this kind of stuff.. And I feel like, way behind the curve all of a sudden.

The group hails from Austin, Texas  and continually sells out shows in their hometown while developing a strong national and international following through their kinda cool use of social media outlets such as Google+, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.. Let me show you what I mean.

Pretty cool, huh? They decided to play their first public shows at SXSW of 2010 with no recordings, no press, not even band photos and yet were hailed as a ‘Top New Band’ and ‘A Best Find at SXSW’ along with several other awards. These guys are pretty freakin’ cool. Although I can’t seem to find their first EP, Keys, anywhere, below I’ve posted their first single from their new CD (Night & Day) that is due out soon so you all can stream it until the true CD drops.

I’m real excited to follow these guys into the coming months/years. Thanks for the invitation to check out R&B and pop again!!
