Hello! It’s been a little while music lovers.
Had a few big changes in my life that set me back a few weeks (I think it’s now officially been more than 3 weeks since I last updated!?) but I’m back to introduce new music to you all.
First of all, I don’t know what it is about the months of April/May, but NOT MANY CDs come out during this time period.. I’ve been pleased with a few releases, but everything of note really seems to be waiting until June to drop. Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that bands want car drivers to roll down their windows and blast their new discs in their CD player during the summer.. wait.. sorry, do people even know what CD players are in cars anymore? Frankly, all I need is this:
A stereo after my own heart. Anywho, I’m back to deliver the next band you need to download into that usb or iPod to blast with an aux cable. If you want to feel ‘old-skool’ go ahead and rip a CD and enjoy… haha…
Okay okay okay – I’m on to the music.
Stage Kids is the band of the week. They self describe their music as ‘Black Metal, Grime, and Happy Hardcore.’ I laugh at the description because essentially these kids are progressive/math rock. It’s awfully enjoyable to listen to. Here’s their description from their website. “6 scoundrels from the rugged terrain that is San Diego, have gathered to scathe the musical grounds that grew beneath them. SK is comprised of transplants from several different bands of contrasting styles. These six kids seek to remain sane through the proper, yet, unruly execution of musical fusion and the destruction of normalcy. Carrying only their instruments and a desire to wreak havoc, SK hope to bring together an array of conflicting styles to concoct a single, cohesive sound for those willing to listen.”
Here’s a preview below:
Interesting enough, isn’t it? Definitely catches your ear? It’s quirky enough for me to really enjoy the song and I picked up their second cd,
and the most recent one, Killer Tofu (hopefully an ode to the tv show Doug and the band The Beets) is pretty great.
Please consider picking up their music here: http://stagekids.bandcamp.com/
