As promised.. I’m following up Gotye’s post with his featured artist Kimbra..who I was struck with enough to feel like I should blog about her. Ladies and Gents, I present to you my first artist that I like who hailed from New Zealand! Cool! I’m expanding folks!
First of all, Kimbra is 21 now. Just put that in your noggin and keep it there as you watch a few of the videos below. Picking up a guitar when she was first 12, you can tell she has certainly expanded into her own little niche of music. Call it a serious mash of Imogen Heap, St. Vincent, Florence and the Machine, and even Bjorn. Quoting from her facebook, she “brings a modern edge to the worn sounds of soul with a voice that belies her age, her jazz-influenced theatrical pop is inspired by a range of musical genres and artists.”
Really couldn’t have said it better myself. You can pick up her debut CD, Vows, HERE. If the videos below are any indication of what the CD contains.. I wouldn’t hesitate a second before downloading this one.
