So, as I was out on vacation a few weeks ago, I was thinking to myself.. What became of Saosin? A CD last released in 2009, seems about time they should be coming out with something new… is anything in the works?
Saosin – Bury Your Head
Apparently quite a bit of news has followed the group lately. Not only did they kick out Cove (their lead singer from ‘04) but are yet to find a new lead singer following that dismal early this year.. Music has been written, but the lack of the lead singer has caused the group to stay out of studio and relying on guitarist Justin Shekoski to sing during the live sets. Although this might be all well and good, I’m dying to hear new music from the
group.
That being said, there certainly has been enough speculation on who might follow in the Anthony > Cove footsteps.. Namely leading me to vocalist Tilian Pearson of the group Tides of Man.
Although they themselves had been on my radar, I hadn’t had enough time to check them out until only recently.. But I’m fairly impressed. Tides of Man presents of a mix of Coheed, Fall of Troy, Circa Survive, and even Saosin themselves.. Quite enjoyable to listen to.
So get this though: Tilian expresses interest to meet up with the Saosin guys (a few brief demos are recorded) and Tides kicks him out. For ‘expressing interest’ in for joining another group. I guess that makes sense but still, perhaps a bit harsh? And then what happens with Saosin?
Nothing. The guys are busy and Tilian is caught in the middle – so instead of being allowed to rejoin Tides, he is provided the option to form a side project entitled ‘Archives;’ another cool mix of several bands throwing in Secret and Whisper and a few heavier groups..
Listen to them on Facebook! (You’ll have to click the word Facebook to listen)
So, in the meantime, no news from the Saosin camp, the whole point of the blog in the first place. Hopefully we’ll hear new things from the guys soon enough, but enough some listening from Tides and Archives! Hooray for trying to catch up on one band and finding two new ones in the process!
