Yana

Okay.. I.. honestly have ZERO recollection of where I first heard about Yana… which is like, my whole schtick and what I love about music, this.. a touring artist brings their favorite unknown band on tour with them, or makes a post, or credits others in album liner notes, or even more and more these days, an algorithm properly guessing what’s going to hit me right in the feels exactly right on any given day.. and then I get to happily add this person to my listening library for the foreseeable future.

But for Yana… I have no recollection of this moment (which is.. just so weird for me). I only have the time before I knew about Happy, and the time after Happy.

I freaking love this track. The opening note which starts these simple drum beat clicks in this erotic way and carries the beat forward, the banjo perfectly layered throughout (and how often do you hear banjo on pop tracks these days?), great melodies and harmonies… it just all works.

Realistically, i can blame the throws of late night bottle feeds and newborn craziness (thanks again, A) for not being able to remember, but of all the things I listened to in the middle of a night with a screaming baby, Yana’s new album, Feelings are Forever was the track/album that got me through several an evening. A few other favorites are below.
