Clayton King

Clayton King is one of those artists I didn’t actively seek out – so another thank you to the algorithm, but his solo songs (pretty reminiscent to me of a more modern/heavy Scale the Summit with all the typical tones we hear from metalcore these days) feel lived-in… thoughtful without being heavy, reflective without turning into background noise and comprehensive – hitting everything you’d want it to hit. There’s a calm confidence to what he puts out, like he knows exactly what lane he wants to be in and doesn’t feel the need to swerve for trends or volume. It’s the kind of music that works whether you’re actually listening or just trying to slow your brain down a notch with the right blend of heavy background noise, and honestly, there’s something really comforting about that.
