Big Wreck – Albatross

I feel late to the game in finding out that Thornley = Big Wreck. I love love love Ian Thornley’s first two solo efforts, Come Again and Tiny Pictures and was surprised to first find out that he was a graduate of Berklee College of Music and his venture into the musical world was through Big Wreck.

They released two CDs prior to 2002 and rose through some Canadian rock charts until a parting of the ways between Ian and his co-founder Brian led him to embark on the solo career I quickly hinted at above. Those links above provide pushes to spotify.. It’s awesome and I was evenly more thrilled to learn that Ian did all guitars and bass on Tiny Pictures with Nickelback’s drummer on the drums. Pretty cool collab there.

Anyway, following the two solo Thornley CDs, Brian and I apparently made up and reintroduced themselves to their world as Big Wreck. I’ve been working through their latest two CDs, Albatross (who’s title single is the video above) and Ghosts which they just released in January of this year.

I’ll never grow tired of Ian’s voice.
